The mission of the Lenfest Center for Sustainable Energy (LCSE) is to advance sustainable and accessible energy solutions for humanity grounded in fundamental science and engineering.
Context
Access to abundant and sustainable energy and resources while co-creating beneficial environmental impacts is crucial for human development and planetary health. This mission drives the development of integrated and comprehensive solutions spanning sustainable subsurface energy solutions to energy- and material-efficient processing pathways with inherent emissions management.
Realizing a sustainable energy, resources, and environmental future requires the diversification of energy and resources and the associated solutions. To this end, LCSE advances interdisciplinary and creative solutions for sustainable energy and resource recovery grounded in fundamental science and engineering with a focus on developing the next generation of talented leaders.
What We Do
LCSE delivers transformative solutions for a diversified energy and resource future through:
- Discovery: Developing new science, models, materials, and technologies for sustainable energy and resources
- Efficiency: Designing processes that minimize energy and material inputs across resource-to-product pathways
